Learning Objectives Using imagination to become a character and to respond as that character to questioning. Formalise suitable questions to help explore a situation.

Learning Outcomes Improve knowledge about the effects of bullying on those concerned.
Introduction Introduce the HOTSEAT. Teacher sits in the HOTSEAT and, in role, becomes Mrs Parton. Pupils are invited to ask questions about what is happening in her class.

Development Volunteers take it in turns to be other characters from the Lisa’s No Pizza animation and the other ask questions about what is happening to them and how they feel about the consequences.

Plenary Discussion – “what new information has been learnt through the HOTSEAT?”

Differentiation The HOTSEATING can be done in two’s – one being the character, the other being the questioner. Another person can be asked to be the thoughts of the person in the HOTSEAT – the questioning stopped and the other person asked “what is this character feeling like now?”

Assessment Through the oral contribution to the HOTSEAT questioning and through being a volunteer and the response to the questioning.

Resources
• An extra chair to act as the HOTSEAT.
